S
ick of standing while the wife shops? Dennis Noonan and the rest of the gang at Hillsboro-based Blanchard Machine have something to show you: the man-stroller.

Noonan tells us more about his invention, which is also known as the Comfortable Adult Conveyance Chair, or CACC.

What inspired you to create the man stroller? Our wives were out shopping, and we were going from bench to bench, and there aren't that many benches. We needed something for our wives to push around from place to place, with a drink holder and maybe a DVD player. Most of the time when we're shopping, we feel like a pack mule.

How much weight can it carry? It's limited by the actual seat. The frame itself will hold about 1,000 pounds. The seat is rated for 250, but there are several different seats out there we can use to up the weight capacity.

What's the price tag on one of these? We're trying to sell them to businesses to rent them at malls. It depends on what you're looking for options on it, but it's about $650.

Options? Colors, type of seats. Whether you want a DVD, a CD player, a tray for your laptop. It has a drink holder on it. Malls could put advertising on it.

Shopping aside, what other applications does this have? People who really don't want to be looked at in a wheelchair. This is a little bit more sporty. You can even dress them up. At NASCAR races, you can have special logos.

May 13, 2006~ The Man-Stroller made its debut at the Brattleboro, Vermont, BIG BOY TOY SHOW hosted by WKVT Rock 92.7. The Man-Stroller was a hit.
